New2NAWIC: Spotlight on Jessica Larrabee!
Enjoy our Q&A to get to know Jessica Larrabee!
What is your role and the name of your company? I am the owner of Osprey Construction Supply, LLC
Where do you live? Sharon, MA
Where did you go to school? Babson College.
What was your first job not related to construction? Right after college I moved to San Francisco and worked for an online gaming company. We processed online credit-card payments for all the virtual reality games that were popular at the time. I worked in sales and fraud prevention. Given the nature of the company, being online and with small payments, there was a lot of fraud. There were also some actual customers who were very upset when their credit cards were declined because they were trying to buy $1,000 worth of virtual items for their virtual worlds.
What was your first job related to construction? In high school I worked for R.H. Keleher Company in the warehouse, packing orders, painting and assembling items, as well as making deliveries. After college I also got my contractors license to build houses.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I started Osprey Construction Supply, LLC a few years ago. I wanted to own my own company and after my experiences working in the construction industry both in commercial and residential, I saw there was a need for someone to provide same day and next day delivery for a large range of items directly to job sites. Right now we are focusing on construction supplies, pipe/valve/fittings, strut, pipe hangers, janitorial products and safety equipment. We will keep adding items to be able to provide the best service to our customers, from the beginning of a project through construction process, and into the completed occupied building.
What is your favorite part of your job? I love speaking with the customers and helping them solve problems and figure out ways to make their jobs easier.
What are your hobbies? Hiking, photography, skiing and traveling. I have been to all 50 states.
What is your favorite place to vacation? Montana, Cape Cod and San Francisco.
If you had to choose another vocation, what would it be? I would like to be an architect focusing on green/sustainable buildings.
What brought you to NAWIC? It is interesting to meet and talk with other women working in the construction industry.
